Surviving sexual violence impacts everyone’s mental and emotional well-being differently. Often, survivors choose to access the support of talk therapy to work through the impact of their experience. Options for this type of support include:
- PEI Rape and Sexual Assault Centre
- A non-profit, government funded organization that provides free counselling services to all genders who have experienced recent or historic sexual assault and childhood sexual abuse.
- Locations: Charlottetown, Summerside, and Alberton
- Community Mental Health
- Provides free individual and group mental health care at community health facilities on PEI.
- Locations: Souris, Montague, Charlottetown, Summerside, O’Leary, and Alberton
- Family Services PEI
- Not for profit organization that offers individual, family, and couple’s counselling.
- Locations: Charlottetown, Summerside
- Private Counselling
- Private counselling is also available, for a fee, in communities across the Island.
- Professionals who offer private counselling services on PEI include: Social Workers, Counselling Therapists, and Psychologists etc.
